Description: Offered in odd years. The course will initially describe the variety of genetic systems found in insects. Laboratory and statistical techniques will be discussed for studying genetic variation in insect populations. The final part of the course will focus on means for genetic manipulation of populations. The laboratory session will be used to discuss and/or demonstrate techniques for studying insect genetics. 2 hours lecture and one 3-hour lab each week.
