Our Current Research Objectives

  1. To conduct surveys and interviews to assess AGS prevalence and dietary/societal challenges of AGS patients in Kansas rural community.
  2. To improve AGS awareness/knowledge by creating a Kansas AGS website, poster and fact sheets for Kansas rural community.
  3. To develop and establish the methods to quantify α-Gal content in various food items commonly consumed by members of Kansas rural community that may contain α-Gal.
  4. To understand the relationship between α-Gal content/consumption level and blood α-Gal IgE antibody production in AGS patients using a preclinical α-Gal knockout (AGKO) mouse model.
