Dr. Helen Amorim is an Agronomist (Universidade Federal de Viçosa, Brazil), with a Master’s degree in Soils and Plant Nutrition (Universidade Federal de Viçosa, Brazil) and a Ph.D. in Soil Science (Universidade Federal de Lavras, Brazil). Research expertise includes soil health, conservation agriculture, waste management, and novel fertilizers. Currently, she works as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Arkansas CSES department (2022-present), in collaboration with the USDA-ARS Poultry Production and Product Safety Research Unit. She also serves as an Associate Editor for the Soil Science Society of America Journal, previously serving as Social Media Editor for Journal of Environmental Quality. Dr. Amorim’s research history includes 21 peer-reviewed/under review publications, 15 media highlights/featured articles, 5 guest lectures in national and regional conferences, and over $1M in funded/pending research grants. Her network includes over 50 USDA-ARS scientists, 20 industry stakeholders, 1890s researchers, regional insect producers and row crop farmers, and extension and education professionals. Dr. Amorim’s ultimate research goal is to promote a cleaner, effective, and more sustainable agriculture in the US and abroad.
