CEO, NQV8, LLC

John Kuenzi is a Kansas native with deep roots in the pet food industry. His parents established Bern Extrusion (BEI), which they later sold to ADM, before launching CJ Foods in Pawnee City, Nebraska. After graduating from Kansas State University with dual degrees, Kuenzi stepped into the role of President/CEO of CJ Foods at the young age of 23, following his father's passing. Under his leadership, the company flourished, becoming a leading contract manufacturer in the premium pet food sector.

Following the acquisition and rebranding of CJ Foods as Alphia, Kuenzi retained Rubicon Scientific and co-founded both NQV8 and the Incuvator Funds. NQV8 is an early-stage consulting firm, while the Incuvator Funds is a venture firm that has invested in 22 emerging companies.

Driven by a passion for continuous learning, Kuenzi has also invested in several insect-protein ventures. These include Jiminy’s, a pet food company; Beta Hatch, a mealworm protein producer; and Dalan, a bee vaccine developer. These investments reflect his interest in the potential and hurdles of insect-based solutions.

Beyond his entrepreneurial pursuits, Kuenzi serves on various boards, supports agricultural technology startups, and is involved in philanthropic endeavors, such as Meds & Foods for Kids in Haiti. At his alma mater, Kansas State University, he actively participates on advisory boards for both Agriculture and Business, serves as a KSU Foundation Trustee, and shares his expertise as an Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship. In his leisure time, Kuenzi enjoys mowing, fishing, and playing the drums.
