IMEC preview

Integrated Molecular Entomology Core

The Integrated Molecular Entomology Core (IMEC) laboratory was established to promote the use of molecular and cellular techniques to explore the physiology, biology, toxicology, and behavior of arthropods and promote collaboration among members of the department of Entomology as well as our partners.

IMEC is a 2,000 square foot facility established in 2022 in partnership with the Foreign Arthropod-Borne Animal Disease Research Unit. Located in a secure section of Waters Annex, IMEC includes office, meeting, and laboratory space to study molecular and cellular aspects of arthropod behavior, physiology, and toxicology. The office space houses the facility's director and up to 8 graduate students or scientists. The laboratory space is designed to facilitate research requiring both biosafety (up to BSL-2) and arthropod containment (up to ACL-2) precautions. Access to this space is restricted to individuals performing research that requires this space.
