Soybean Insects

Grasshoppers (Acrididae)

Soybean>Grasshopper_nymph.jpg

Grasshopper damage may occur from June through September. Hoppers tend to accumulate along field margins which permits treatment of a limited area. If a significant population exists, nearby noncrop areas should be treated with an insecticide labeled for this purpose before migration starts. Nymphs are easier to control than adults. Observe precautions if soybean foliage is treated directly.

Please refer to the most recent Soybean Insect Management Guide for treatment recommendations.
