Debate Team

Linnaean Team 2019

Our Debate Team is a non-profit and non-political Departmental Student Organization (DSO), sponsored and supervised by the Kansas State Department of Entomology, formed to carry out its mission listed below. The Debate Team meets all requirements of the KSU Division of Student Life’s Chapter 8540: Student Organization Policy.

The Department of Entomology Debate Team at Kansas State University is a KSU Student Organization (DSO) for students and others in the KSU community who have a vocational or avocational interest in insects and their relatives. Our purpose is to prepare to compete at the annual meetings of the Entomological Society of America (ESA). This will be done by promoting scholastic practice and competition by providing an environment which fosters personal growth and development of knowledge of entomology and related areas of study. Membership shall be open to all persons with an interest in entomology, no matter their academic field. While membership to the Debate Team is open to all students and faculty/staff, only students are eligible to compete in the Debate Team hosted by the Entomological Society of America as per the ESA’s guidelines (https://www.entsoc.org/events/annual-meeting/student-debates). Members must regularly attend practices to be considered for part of the competition team as directed by the faculty advisor.
